Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life? Since you cannot do this very little thing, why do you worry about the rest? Luke 12:25-26

24 days and a funny video!

24 days until my next doctor's appointment?! I feel like I just went! That's kinda how these things work I guess.

My weight is down a little bit, according to the gym scale, due to some stress, but I'm eating lots again and I expect it to jump right back up!

Next week... study study study. 2 tests, 2 quizzes, and a paper due. Oh hi college. I forgot you were there...

Last night my cousin Louis was born!! Another baby in the family, oh boy!! I can't wait to meet him this Easter!

So last week was Greek Week and part of the points your sorority/fraternity gets is from giving blood. On Thursday I went with 4 of my sorority sisters to give blood. I was moral support. I got asked about 10 times by friends who "know" if I was able to give blood. To be honest, I'm not sure. I take an antibiotic MWF for inflammation, but otherwise I don't see why not. This time, I couldn't have given because of my recent tattoo, but other times I've never had a sure answer. When I had asked my mom in the past, we had decided that I shouldn't because 1)some of the meds I'm on, 2)I "donate" plenty to my doctor every year, 3)I have had terrible needle experiences in the past, 4)I just now hit the weight requirement. I've heard some CF patients who give and others who have been turned down, so I haven't tried. The only reason I would is because I'm O+, the universal donor. You can never have enough of my blood! I don't think I'll ever give, but everyone else should! And I'll gladly be there to hold your hand! :]

Time to study. A quick video to make you smile/laugh until you cry (like I did!)

Video of hope

This is a great video about Vertex, the new drugs in the CF pipeline. This guy explains how the drugs work on a level that everyone can understand it. Please take a few minutes to watch it and hear the great news about the future for CF drugs!

The Call for JM

A fellow CFer, who I will refer to as JM, got The Call for his lungs about 7 hours ago. He lives in a city only 30 minutes away from me and the largest group at my local Great Strides walk a month ago was for him. I have no updates other than he got the call. I'll update as I know things.

Thanksgiving post is coming up along with a great video my mom showed me about some upcoming new drugs! We have so much to be thankful for!

Be back soon!

A House For My Kids

This is an old youtube video about a man named Greg McDougal.
He is a man with 4 kids, 3 of which have CF. One of his kids had serious problems with a common mold and now he is raising money to build a special house that is as allergen/mold free as they come. He is a country singer and a construction worker. He is raising the money with his CD's (and donations of course) and building the house himself. It's a great video (10 min long, but worth it) and a great story. That was back in 2006.

It's now 2010 and the house is almost complete! He updates his blog periodically and I hope you all can celebrate with him with the improvement in his son's health and the successful building of his new home. Please take a few minutes to watch the video and read his blog, A House for My Kids.

Must watch video

Please, take 6 minutes out of your day to watch this video off of America's Got Talent. I posted it on facebook and twitter. It's so inspirational to the CF community; actually to anyone. These two beautiful girls have equally beautiful voices and I wish them the best of luck on the rest of their AGT journey!

On a side note, I went running today! I'm officially buddying up with sis-in-law Sarah and we started our frequent running today.

And in case you're not keeping up with the World Cup... GO USA!!!!!!!!!! We pulled off a VERY important goal 2 minutes into stoppage time, so almost the 92nd minute. INSANE!! Because of that, they won the bracket and advanced. GO USA!!!!!!!!

A Story of Hope

I posted this on my facebook page, but I also wanted to post it on here. I'll leave it up for a few days.

In summary, it's a girl I went to high school with. The news did a segment on her about how she's stayed strong throughout facing one of the scariest trials we can imagine: getting cancer.

It's a few minutes long and well worth the time.
